Proyectos Espectra is a contemporary art platform founded in 2018 by Gladys Méndez and Sergio Arriaga. Our goal is to promote the visibility of young artists from the Yucatan Peninsula, building bridges with other regions of the country to decentralize cultural production. We are interested in articulating networks between emerging practices and established careers, fostering intergenerational dialogue, collaboration, and exchange between independent artistic nodes. Through critical curation and collaboration, we seek to broaden the art scene in southeast Mexico, activating spaces for reflection on what new generations are producing, imagining, and proposing. Espectra works from the territory, recognizing its power, its questions, and its transformative capacity.
Proyectos Espectra has presented various exhibitions and activities, among which the following stand out: “Diálogos para la obtención de un resultado satisfactorio y otros cerdos voladores” (2025), “Feral” (2024), “Mayazord” (2024), “La Bienal Dondé” (2022), “Activar el micelio 2” as part of the XIX Bienal de Fotografía (2022), “Medium/Embedded” (2019), “La Risa de Medusa” (2019), “Si los cálculos son correctos, el resultadi debería ser satisfactorio" (2018), “Mutatis Mutandis” (2018), and “Soft Opening” (2018). The project has been supported by the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo in 2019 and 2025.
