Artwork Description
////////// (EN) Xicalcoliuhqui-inspired geometries—stepped, spiraling forms rooted in Mesoamerican design—anchor a cast-aluminum false bird-of-paradise flower. Along the structure, a caterpillar curves and clings like a living stroke held in pause. The silvered surface shifts with the light, marked by a foundry process akin to lost-wax casting. The caterpillar embodies passage—appetite, growth, and the threshold of a form to come. The work considers how nature is abstracted, ritualized, and reshaped—beauty as lure and record; likeness as a delicate imprint of desire, preservation, and control.
